Do the FrancisFrancis X1 machines use ground coffee as well as coffee pods?

No unfortunately they don’t. FrancisFrancis has done its homework to understand consumers and they have learned that more and more people are choosing Ground OR ESE Pods, but rarely crossing over. With that learning in mind, they created a revised FrancisFrancis X1 that is designed only for ESE pods(X1 Trio) or only for ground coffee (X1 Classic), further improving their already excellent reputation for great espresso. The changes are more apparent in how the water is showered down onto the coffee, in both the screen and in the portafilter design. So while most are getting inferior espresso when they alternate between one and the other, the folks at FrancisFrancis are designing out the flaws associated with the two methods. We have found a really good article explaining this further at:

Does the FrancisFrancis X1 Trio use only Illy Easy Serve Espresso Pods?

No, the X1 Trio is designed to take 44mm coffee pods so as long as you use this size, the X1 Trio can use any brand of coffee pods.

What sort of coffee machines do the Illy ESE Pods fit?

The Illy Easy Serve Espresso Pods will fit most coffee machines that are designed to use coffee pods. Some coffee machines are designed specifically for coffee pods, while others have filter basket adaptors which you can use. I have also heard of people using pods on machines not necessarily designed for them, with varying degrees of success. The Illy Pods are 44mm diameter in size, which is the most common coffee pod size available. If you are unsure just Contact Us and we can post you a sample of a pod for you to check if it fits your machine.

Do you also stock the Baratza Vario Grinder?

No we don’t. We have been unable to secure supply through a NZ importer at this stage. We have instead secured supply of the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso which we think in value for money terms is an excellent grinder with it's micro adjustment allowing brilliant control over all coffee types. What courier/postal services do you use?

We use Courierpost and Post Haste for the majority of our deliveries. This is mostly an overnight service to major towns and cities, and provides us with a track and trace capability to keep tabs on each delivery. Some larger items to the Sth Island are delivered on an ‘economy‘ service taking 1-3 days.

For some items that are a difficult size to fit the Courierpost packaging, we may post via NZ Post’s Parcel Post. This is generally a 1-3 day service for residential addresses and also has a Track and Trace capability. This is generally used on our knock tubes and allows us to keep our prices at their low level.

Most products over $100 are also delivered in ‘Signature Required’ packaging, giving added assurance to both the customer and My Espresso by requiring someone at the delivery end to sign and receive your package.

Do you deliver to P O Boxes and Private Bags?

Yes definately, any of our products can be delivered to P O Boxes and Private Bags throughout NZ.

Do you deliver to Rural Addresses?

Yes we do deliver to Rural Delivery addresses and we don’t charge any RD Surcharges. Generally we will send products to Rural addresses using NZ Post rather than Courierpost, meaning delivery is normally within 1-3 days. This allows us to keep our prices consistent for everyone. Larger items that can’t be sent via NZ Post will be sent via Courier Post and My Espresso will pay for any RD surcharge.
